France's southern coastal region of the Languedoc-Roussillon has played a major role in wine production in France, from antiquity to the modern era: It’s the single biggest wine making region in the world, and produces about a third of all French wine. Situated along the Mediterranean between the Rhône and the Pyrenees, it’s also always served as an essential physical and cultural crossroad, and the backdrop to some of the most consequential historical events to have impacted wine. This is one of Jesse's favorite regions to talk about, so come ready for a fun history lesson; one you can drink!
