Gabin et Felix Richoux 'Les Cailles' Irancy 2021
This 100% Pinot Noir from the very north of Burgundy is grown on a single 1.77 hectare parcel, with vines averaging 55 years in age, planted on south-facing slopes (180–200 m). The soil is classic Irancy with clay topsoil over limestone marl bedrock.
Fermented naturally in steel vats, it is aged 14 months in 228 liter barrels, followed by 12 months in steel. No added sulfur until bottling.
In the glass, expect rose, peony, red cherry, spice, and forest floor aromas. The palate shows elegant fruit framed by fine tannins and vivid acidity. There’s just enough refinement here to balance the hallmark Irancy rusticity.
Pair with roast chicken, mushroom risotto, duck, or any dish leaning into herbal, gamey notes.
