La Terrasse d'Elise 'Pradelou' IGP Pays d'Herault 2022
From iconoclast winemaker (and ex-lumberjack!) Xavier Breaujou, Pradelou is a rare solo act from Cinsault—a grape usually found in blends, but here shining on its own. Grapes come from young vines planted on steep terraces of rolled pebbles and limestone scree in Aniane, next to Languedoc legends Grande des Peres and Mas de Daumas Gassac.
The grapes are farmed with minimal intervention, and winemaking is kept gentle: manual harvest, soft extraction, and ageing for 12 months in neutral barrels to preserve fruit character.
In the glass, think soft and light but not watered-down: juicy cherries, a hint of wild herbs, and a graceful finish. This is a Southern red that manages to strike a balance between energy and elegance.
Pair with charcuterie, roasted vegetables, light stews—or just some good company and cheese.
