Maxime Crotet Cote de Nuits-Villages 'Les VIgnottes' 2023

$56.00

This Pinot Noir from Burgundy balances joyous freshness and serious structure. Crafted by young vigneron Maxime Crotet—trained under natural wine icon Frédéric Cossard—this wine comes from an early-ripening vineyard in Comblanchien (near the border with Corgoloin) in the Côte de Nuits. It’s organic, vinified with minimal intervention: a 14-day semi-carbonic maceration (some pump-overs, a bit of foot-trodding), then aged 12 months in French oak. Sulfur is only added at bottling, respecting purity throughout.

In the glass, “Les Vignottes” bursts with bright red fruit—cherries and raspberries—with spicy notes and dark mineral undertones. The structure is more pronounced than in some of his other wines: it’s layered, with freshness and fine tannins giving it both easy drinkability and ageing potential.

Pair with elevated comfort food: roast chicken, mushroom risotto, herby pork chops. Even something a little richer like duck or game terrine would work nicely. In short, a wine that fills the table without demanding all the attention.
