Melanie Pfister 'Berg' Riesling Alsace 2022
This Riesling from the Bas-Rhin in Alsace hails from six small plots (3.18 acres) of 21-year-old vines in the Silberberg hillside, planted in clay-limestone soils and facing south/southeast. Certified organic since 2021 (with biodynamic practices from 2019), the domaine practices very careful farming, including by not plowing between rows of vines (tillage).
In the cellar, Mélanie lets fermentation happen naturally and ages the wine on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks for at least one year, producing a fully dry wine.
Think stone fruits (white pear, peach), crisp citrus, and a dry, mineral-rich finish—a wine that feels both grounded and focused.
Pair with grilled seafood, sushi, goat cheese salads, or any dish where delicate complexity and minerality are welcome.
