Muller-Grossman 'Furth' Gruner Veltliner Kremstal 2024
This lively, mid-weight white is produced by Marlies Hanke in Furth‑Palt, nestled at the foot of Göttweiger Berg in Austria’s Kremstal. Produced organically and following the “as much as needed, as little as possible” ethos, the vines are hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented, and aged long on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks until dry fermentation completes naturally—no dosage, no fuss.
In the glass it’s pale green-gold and super inviting, bursting with juicy apple, a touch of mango, meadow herbs, and a lift of orange zest. The palate is softly textured, with good length and a zippy, slightly spicy, mineral-laced finish. With 13% ABV and only ~1 g/L residual sugar, it’s crisp, balanced, and eminently drinkable.
This bright, peppery Grüner flies solo as an aperitif—or pairs beautifully with shellfish (think oysters, crab), fresh salads, pork schnitzel, or light pasta dishes. Chill it and get tasting—this Austrian gem is pure, friendly, and full of character.
