Olga Raffault 'Les Barnabes' Chinon 2022
This is a charming, approachable Cabernet Franc from sandy–gravel alluvial soils beside the Loire River. Les Barnabés generally needs less ageing than the estate’s other cuvées, particularly Les Picasses. Organically farmed and hand-harvested, the grapes are destemmed but not crushed, then fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness.
In the glass, this Chinon delivers vibrant red fruit — think raspberry and blackcurrant — with floral violet notes and a clean, mineral edge. Soft tannins, lively acidity, and pure fruit make it lighter in style, without needing years to open up.
This is a go-to for grilled chicken, mushroom dishes, charcuterie, or a herb-filled lentil stew!
