Pago de Carraovejas Tempranillo Ribera del Duero 2022
The 2022 estate wine from Pago de Carraovejas is the soul of the Carraovejas Valley poured into a glass—balanced, precise, and anything but ordinary. A blend of 93% Tinto Fino (or Tempranillo), 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Merlot comes from vines planted around 850 meters on limestone-rich soils.
The 2022 vintage was a dramatic one—cool, dry winter months tested the vines, but thanks to the previous year’s water reserves, the vineyard survived beautifully. A scorching summer was tamed with drip irrigation, leading to a slow, even ripening that delivered beautifully uniform fruit.
The grapes are hand-picked, then undergo meticulous double sorting by both clusters and berries. The wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged for 12 months in French and American oak for depth and finesse.
In the glass, this is no rustic blockbuster—it’s polished and poised. Picture ripe black cherries, plums, spicy florals, and subtle earthy depth, all underpinned by vivid freshness and minerality. It’s structured, balanced, and thrillingly reflective of its hillside origins.
Serve with roasted lamb, pork ribs, gamey stews, or aged Manchego. Let it breathe—and let it take over the dinner table.
