Pra 'Marandina' Amarone della Valpolicella 2018
This is a powerful yet elegant expression of Veneto’s classic Amarone style. Made from a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grown at Vini Prà’s high-altitude, chalky vineyards.
The grapes are dried for about 2 months in small baskets (or casseta). After drying, the fruit is fermented with delestage to soften the tannins, and undergoes both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. It then ages for 2 years in a mix of barriques and tonneaux, finishing with at least one year in large oak casks.
In the glass, it shows a rich garnet hue with aromas of dried cherry, plum, dark chocolate, and spice, with a hint of balsamic vinegar. The palate is full-bodied and silky, with ripe black fruit, warm tannins, and a long finish that balances power and freshness.
It’s an ideal pairing with roasted meats, game, aged cheeses, or hearty stews — a wine made for savoring.
