Presqu'ile Chardonnay Santa Barbara County 2023
Presqu’ile is a family-owned estate in California’s Santa Maria Valley. They made this vibrant Santa Barbara white to showcase the purity, texture, and energy of cool-climate Chardonnay.
Crafted from fruit sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards like North Canyon, White Hawk, Cottonwood, and Tunnel, the wine benefited from the long, measured hang time of the excellent 2023 vintage — a cool, extended growing period that built flavor while keeping freshness intact.
In the cellar, the juice is fermented and aged 8 months with about 70% neutral French oak and 30% stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation, emphasizing bright natural acidity and beautifully clean fruit expression.
In the glass, it’s bright and refreshing, with lively aromatics of Meyer lemon, citrus peel, and crushed white flowers, threaded with a hint of coastal salinity. The palate is zesty yet textural, carrying a clean, mineral-driven finish that lingers with poise.
This wine shines with seafood — think grilled fish, scallops, shellfish — as well as creamy pastas, soft cheeses, or simply as an elegant aperitif.
