Quinta de San Michel Arinto Vinho Regional Lisboa 2022
This bright, coastal-inflected white hails from the village of Janas, in the renowned wine-producing region of Colares of southern Portugal. It is made from 100% Arinto, one of the region’s native grapes known for its zippy acidity and mineral backbone.
After hand harvesting, the grapes are fermented in used oak barrels, before spending 12 months on the lees in a combination of French and Hungarian barrels. Further bottle ageing also helps to layer in texture without obscuring purity.
On the nose, expect green apple, lemon peel, melon, and a hint of mint. The palate is energetic and focused, with the hallmark acidity and saline-notes of the variety, but with a broad and creamy texture reminiscent of Burgundy.
Pair with grilled seafood, shellfish, grilled chicken, or lighter fare that allows the wine’s structure and minerality to shine.
